This is a delicious dessert. The key to saving on costs when making it is never using beautiful fresh blueberries or blackberries for it. These fresh berries deserve to be eaten raw for full benefits. In this recipe, where you will cook the fruits, you can better use either frozen blueberries and blackberries from the supermarket, or real bargain blueberries and blackberries which you bought at your local farmer’s market. They will taste just as delicious in this crumble! However, the fresh, and not frozen, strawberries are the key to making this crumble sweet and lovely.
You’ll need:
Frozen berries, mixed, 250g
Fresh strawberries, a 4-5 pieces
Purest spelt cookies, sugar free, 100g
Cinnamon, 3 teaspoons
Butter, grass-fed, 1/2 tablespoon
Spread frozen blueberries and blackberries in a pie dish. Do something fun for 30 minutes, like watching your favourite show, painting or cooking dinner, giving the berries about 30 minutes to defrost. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Add a few fresh strawberries, sliced, to the blueberries and blackberries. Crumble the spelt cookies in a different bowl (just break them using your hands), and then add butter to it and knead the mixture with your fingers until it becomes a crumbly consistency. Now add this crumble and the cinnamon to the berries in the pie dish, mixing it up using your hands or a spoon. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until the juices from the berries are bubbling and the crumble looks golden brown. Serve and feel Berry Loved <3.
