• Oops, honey, I changed my lifestyle (Before & After of My 90-day No Sugar Challenge)

What started as a 30-day experiment on 2 August 2018 has escalated into a full-blown 90-day no sugar challenge. This is the story about the before and the after, and how much sugar I ended up not eating by changing my sweet-tooth, chocolate-loving ways.  In the recent posts, you can read about the start of the 30-day no sugar challenge, and how it turned into a long-term project once my cravings only stopped after 28 days. BEFORE Basics Chocolate = necessity of life Sweets = treats Meals = sweet/savoury (half/half) Cravings per day = 5 (usually in the morning, during long afternoons & after dinner) Attitude = sugar will solve…

  • 67 Days Without Added Sugars | Challenges so far

No ice cream, no soda, no store-bought pasta sauces, no chocolate, no chips, no scones, no cheesecake, no cookies, and almost no processed food of any kind (because when you look at the labels, there’s added sugar in almost everything). That’s what it’s like to not eat added sugars. For 67 days, I have been sticking to this rule. Here are the challenges I’ve been facing so far. Me too, until recently”.…

But, there is something about the secrets in this post that just might…

  • Greek spankopita in Leiden

Good Food During My Staycation in The Netherlands ( Alkmaar | Utrecht | Leiden )

While I drink Chianti wine and swipe Spanakopita crumbs off my keyboard, this post comes in existence. For the aspiring sommeliers, the wine is a Chianti Classico Piccini delightfully fermented in the year 2014. Listening to The Beatles because my housemate is a musical superstar (with a PhD in science btw). Ultimately, it’s the perfect stay-cation. Although summer is a great time for a sunburn in Greece, you too could just stay wherever you are and create a stay-cation, like me. Last weekend, I city hopped to Alkmaar (a pitoresque Christian town in North of Holland) and Utrecht (bigger, but lovely, city ruled by canals and catacomb like restaurants and…

  • Tips for Frugal Shopping at any Organic and Health food store

I am grateful for their existence but, organic foods can be insanely expensive. If you, like me, want to support this branch of business without going into debt, read on for tips on how to shop frugally at organic & health food stores.  In my years as health-food-store-wanderer, I have discovered how to shop and how not to shop at any health food store. By making wise choices and leaving a bunch of groceries behind (to be bought at regular stores), buying organic can be easy and cheap! I’ve gone from a 40 euro bill each time I even just entered a health food store (for groceries for 2 people x…
